pr_ashley@yahoo.ca

Pearl was born and raised in Saskatchewan. As a child she spent much of her time drawing and creating stories about people from her imagination. In 1993 Pearl and her family moved to Victoria, BC where she struggled to find the time between her career as an IT professional and art. She left her job in 2003 to pursue her love of art on a full time basis. Throughout her life Pearl has been interested in the fibre arts including Traditional Canadian Rug Hooking. In 1993 she won first in the division and second for the fibre arts section at the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede for her rug tapestry. Decorating and design and the use of color and fibre are used in her home, rugs, quilts and art.
In January Pearl returned from Nepal where she volunteered at a school and a HIV Aids project for four months.

INGA PUNGENTE

194 Joseph St. 382 3503

Ingaink@hotmail.com

Inga Pungente lives and paints in Fairfield, the home of the Moss Street Market of Greater Victoria. Her love of nature began in Thunder Bay where she was born and raised. With the encouragement of her sister, Inga attended a beginner's watercolour class in the early 1990's. She was hooked, and pursued her desire to paint by attending several Chinese Brush Painting workshops. From this style of painting and the brush stroke techniques she has developed her own fluid style of painting from nature; mostly flowers, birds and animals. Inga offers art card and brush painting workshops up and down Vancouver Island and her work has been widely purchased from around the world.
BRIAN MOREAU

1131 McKenzie, 386-2336

brianmoreau@shaw.ca

For Brian, art is a journey. Models are seldom used, or any reference points other than a vague remembering of what a particular form might look like. "I imagine a world and try to paint its vibration."

Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Brian studied at the University of Winnipeg and the Victoria College of Art. His work is found in collections around the world. Recently his art was exhibited at the McPherson Gallery and the Martin Batchelor Gallery in Victoria. .

An honours graduate in painting from Vancouver's renowned Emily Carr College of Art and Design, Dorset's passion for painting has remained constant, with lengthy commitments in oils, watercolors, and now acrylics. Norwich-Young's canvases sing with a strong play of colour and structure alongside a dance between realism and abstraction. This contributes to the continual element of surprise and freshness in her art. Dorset Norwich-Young's artwork is collected internationally such as the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington D.C. and locally in the Mayor's office with the City of Victoria Collection And the Arbutus Society for Children.

TERRI REID

402 Cook St, 360 0369

tlreid@telus.net

I was a successful custom jewelery designer and goldsmith for 7 years in Vancouver, before deciding to fulfill a dream and go "back to the land" by moving to Salt Spring in 1988. I am a self-taught artist and began my exploration of various traditional materials and techniques during this time; pastels, pen and ink, watercolour, and clay. In 2003, I began specializing in oils and feel this medium resonates with my character best. Making art, for me, has always been a creative, as well as, spiritual and therapeutic experience.
For the last two years, I have been teaching Absolute Beginners Oils. I've been blessed with many interesting students and the atmosphere is conducive to much sharing, learning and support.

MATTHEW WOLFERSTAN

304 Chester, 384 6842

rmwolferstan@gmail.com

Matthew Wolferstan’s representational watercolours are mainly of local scenes familiar to any who know and love Victoria, and/or B.C.’s coastal waters.  Born and raised in Victoria, Wolferstan gives an “insider’s” look at the area, through his paintings.  His watercolours are very precise, with close attention to detail, while still maintaining a feel for the subject and overall mood of the piece. Mostly self-taught, Wolferstan’s formal training includes one year at Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in Vancouver, and one week in Italy with British watercolourist Alan Reed.
STEPHANIE  VAGVOLGYI Pentastic Studio

4-1421 Richardson St. 656-8772

Stephanie’s love of art was kindled when she travelled  in Western Europe as a student and was exposed to the art of the European masters. The years that followed involved commitment to family and a demanding profession.I t was not until later in life that she was able to explore her own creativity. She has studied with several prominent Victoria artists and continues to do so at the Vancouver Island School of Art. She is a member of Pentastic studio, a group of women artists who nurture, inspire and encourage one another. Stephanie aspires to portray mood and harmony in her work rather than a particular scene or object; her paintings tend to be  impressionistic and somewhat abstract. She brings a blast of colour to her canvases and continues to experiment with new ways to convey energy.
