Age of Mythology: The Boardgame $30
Age of Mythology: the Boardgame takes the popular
computer game and enhances it with 300 plastic miniatures. With
literally piles of different mythological creatures and warriors,
players create huge armies to conquer their neighbors, destroy
their buildings, and capture their territory. However, the game is
not just about combat as players must also construct cities with a
variety of buildings and resources.
Complete and in very good condition overall. Some of the cards
in the Norse and Egyptian decks are wrinkled. The Greek cards are
still in their original shrinkwrap. Only 12 of the 300 miniatures
have been removed from their sprues. About half of the cardboard
tiles are still unpunched. The box has a couple of very minor
dings on the edges.

 |
Barn Buzzin' Goofy $5
Barn Buzzin' Goofy is a two-player version of Loopin'
Louie, one of my favourite games. As Goofy flies around, you
use your paddle to bounce him out of the way and prevent him from
knocking over your three vegetable disks. With a little skill,
you'll be able to redirect him onto your opponents' disks
instead!
Components are complete and in excellent condition (a C-cell battery
is required, but not included). The stickers have not been applied
to the plastic parts yet. Box is in fair condition.
|
 |
Blokus Duo $10
Blokus Duo is a 2-player version of the popular
boardgame. Play is almost identical, but with two changes: the
board is 14x14 (rather than 20x20), and you start closer to the
center (rather than in a corner). In many ways, I prefer Blokus
Duo to the original as it avoids a lot of the "gang up on one
player" problem. You can read a more complete review here:
http://www.thegamesjournal.com/reviews/BlokusDuo.shtml
Complete and in excellent condition.
|
 |
Boat Wars $10
Boat Wars is an expansion for Car Wars that takes
the action off the roads and onto the water. To my mind, it is a
perfect example of an "expansion too far" as it adds features and
complexity to a game that didn't really require it. Recommended
only to completists of Car Wars or the Pocket Box games.
Complete and in excellent condition. There is a very slight
wrinkle on the front cover and minor bubbling on the back. This
version of the Pocket Box features the "clip-less" enclosure.
Uncut counters.
|
 |
Bohnaparte $5
Bohnaparte is an expansion to one of my favourite games, Bohnanza. This is no doubt one of the oddest themes to add to a game about bean farming -- the Napoleanic Wars!
Bohnaparte is not a complete game -- you must have a copy of Bohnanza to play.
Complete and in excellent condition. The cards are still in their original shrink-wrap and the counters are unpunched.

 |
Cafe International $12
Cafe International won Germany's prestigious Game of the
Year award for 1989. The theme is one of seating gueats at tables
of the Cafe International. Guests are male or female and of
one of twelve nationalities. This is important as guests will only
sit at specific tables and your goal is to place men and women
equally and by nationality as much as possible. Unseated guests
cost penalty points so it's important to accommodate everyone you can.
Complete and in excellent condition. This is the
German-language edition, however, the components are
language-neutral and a translation of the rules is included. The
official English-language rules can be seen at:
http://www.pacificcoast.net/~greg/Cafe_International_rules.pdf

 |
Can't Stop $10
Can't Stop is a classic push-your-luck dice game for 2-4
players. Each turn you roll four dice and pair them any way you
like. You then mark the numbers you rolled (2 - 12) on the
Stop-sign shaped board. The clever part is that you can re-roll
the dice as often as you like (or dare), advancing the markers
every time you roll that number. However, if you fail to roll any
of your marked numbers, you bust and lose all progress made that
turn. But if your luck holds, and you reach the top of any
number's track, you can stop and claim that number permanently.
The first player to claim three numbers wins!
Contents are complete and in very good condition. The box is in
fair condition with two repaired corners and many dings and
scratches.
|
 |
Can't Stop (5 Player Expansion) $3
These pieces are identical to the original Parker Brothers' pieces
except for colour and allow you to play Can't Stop with up to five
players. Your choice of brown, gray or burgundy.
|
 |
Carolus Magnus $20
Carolus Magnus is an interesting game for 2-4 players
and is especially well-suited for 3. Players attempt to
control the 15 regions on the board and do so by supporting as many
of the five noble houses as possible. As Carolus Magnus
(Charlemagne) moves around the board, castles will be built and
regions will increase in size and power. Although there is luck in
the roll of the dice, victory will go to the player best able to
balance control of the noble houses with exerting their influence
on the board.
Complete and in excellent condition.

 |
Citadels $10
A medieval city destined for greatness, immense power and
importance beckons you. There is only one problem: it isn’t built
yet. This vacuum presents the perfect opportunity for you. You
must wisely spend your gold, bluff, intimidate and outmaneuver
your rivals as you seek to build and control this new city.
Citadels is a game of nobles, intrigue and cities for 2-7 players,
playable in 20-60 minutes.
Components are complete and in excellent condition. The box has very minor dings and wear.
|
 |
Cityscape $20
Cityscape is a unique building game for 2-4 players.
Each turn, you'll place buildings on the communal, 4x4 board. Of
importance is how many distinct building you can see when looking
from your side of the board. Of course you'll want to place
buildings that helps yourself, while hurting your opponents. You
can read my complete review here:
http://www.thegamesjournal.com/reviews/Cityscape.shtml
Complete and in excellent condition.

 |
Clue: The Card Game $5
A card game version of the classic boardgame.
Complete and in excellent condition. Only a few of the deduction sheets have been used.
|
 |
Code Cracker $5
Code Cracker is a simple, push-your-luck dice game for
1-6 players. On your turn, you roll all five dice and try to
assign these dice to one of the three face-up "safes" in the
middle of the table. As long as you are able to assign at least
one die per roll, you are permitted to re-roll all the others.
Once all the numbers on a safe are covered, its code is cracked
and the rewards are yours! Note however, that only the final
player to crack the code gets any of the loot, so you must be
careful not to let subsequent players reap the benefits of your
hard work.
Still in its original shrink-wrap.
|
 |
Clue: DVD Game $10
Who, what, where and when? The usual suspects are wreaking
havoc at Tudor Mansion and Scotland Yard needs your help! Can you
crack these challenging interactive cases, plus unlimited others
in the special bonus game?
The DVD brings you inside Tudor Mansion where Inspector Brown
is waiting with information on events of the day. Ashe the Butler
is also there, ready to share some clues of his own. Remember to
stay alert! You never know what you'll find in a room or run
across in a Secret Passage. Like classic Clue, you'll make
Suggestions, but in Clue DVD your Accusations are made
secretly using the DVD. And keep that Red Reader close at hand...
there are secrets in these cases and information you'll need to
decipher.
Complete and in excellent condition. The pieces are still
sealed in their original plastic.
|
 |
Democrazy $10
Democrazy is a fun-filled game where the players make
the rules... democratically!
Why should you always blindly accept the rules of the games you
play? After all, don't we live in a democracy? Then, vote for new
rules! For once, you can manipulate the rules to your advantage!
This is not too difficult; you must simply convince your opponents
to vote using "common sense"... as long as "common sense" helps
you win!
In the game of Democrazy, the rules constantly change according
to the votes of the players. Each player, on their turn, proposes
a change to the rules and submits the change to a vote by all
players. If the rule passes, it is adopted. If it is rejected, it
fails. Of course, each player will try to pass rules that benefit
themselves, and obstruct rules that don't.
Complete and in excellent condition.
|
 |
Dilbert: Corporate Shuffle $10
Dilbert: Corporate Shuffle is a card game in the vein of
President or A**hole (and is even more similar to The Great
Dalmuti). I think the customized deck (with one 1, two
2s, three 3s, etc.) makes for a superior game.
Components are complete and in excellent condition. The box
has some very minor damage but is in good condition overall.
|

|
Diplomacy $45
Diplomacy is a classic game, but not for the faint of
heart. At its core, it's a very simple wargame — 36 armies and
fleets maneuver around Europe during the 1900s. Your goal as one
of the seven major powers is to capture 18 of the 36 supply
centers. However, given that there is no luck and that moves are
simultaneous, this will be very difficult to achieve without help.
And this is where the game gets its name (and its decidedly nasty
nature). The heart of Diplomacy is in the negotiation phase
where you secretly discuss and formulate your plans with the other
players. Scheming, manipulation, deceit and treachery are all to
be expected. It is possible to play (and win!) while remaining
scrupulously honest, but betrayal is the more common path to
victory.
This is the 1999 Avalon Hill (Hasbro) version which
features metal pieces.
Complete and in excellent condition. The box has several small
nicks and scratches.
|
 |
Drake & Drake $10
1695... The Caribbean... At the head of your crew of cutthroat
pirates, you set full sail for a small island indicated on the
treasure map you took from the most feared pirate of the Spanish
Main while he was on his deathbed. This map also shows you the
spots where he buried all of the treasure and rum he "collected"
over his career.
As you approach the island you see another suspicious ship
approaching the tiny island. It's another pirate... In fact, it's
your brother! How did he find you? Throughout your life he has
always tried to steal what was rightfully yours. He must have a
copy of the map too, and is trying to claim the booty for himself!
A merciless struggle ensues. To win, you must be the first to land
on the island and claim the treasure, you must conquer the
greatest number of territories, and you must throw the most enemy
pirates into the sea...
Drake & Drake is a two-player game which takes about 30 minutes to play.
Complete and in excellent condition.
|
 |
El Grande $30
El Grande is one of the finest games ever made and won
Germany's prestigious Spiel Des Jahres (Game of the Year) for
1996. Players take on the role of "grandes" conspiring and
scheming to place their knights in positions of majority around
nine provinces of Spain.
Although this is the German-language version, it includes a
copy of the English-language rules. It also includes a set of
English-language cards from Rio Grande Games (and these are still
in their original shrink-wrap).
Complete and in excellent condition.
|
 |
Fifth Avenue $25
Fifth Avenue is the ninth game in Alea's very
well-regarded big-box line of games. This auction game is set in
New York during the 1930s and challenges the players to build the
most valuable high-rises.
Still in its original shrinkwrap.
|
 |
Fluxx $5
Fluxx is a chaotic (but fun) card game for 2-6 players. The
rules start off very simply: draw 1 card, play 1 card, but this
will change drastically over the course of the game! The cards you
play affect not just the players' holdings, but how the game
itself is played (as well as how victory is achieved). If you're
looking for a strategic, thoughtful game with lots of control —
look elsewhere!
Complete and in excellent condition.
|
 |
The Gnumies $5
Gnumies are several races of alien space-faring creatures who
love to party. They have parties as often as possible and invite
all their friends, but try to avoid having certain party-crashers
as guests. Getting families to come gives players extra points,
but allowing gate-crashers in, loses points. Of course, certain
guests have special powers which can help or hinder players in
their search for the best party. In the end, the player with the
best party guests earns the most points and wins the game.
For 2-5 players, ages 8 and up.
Complete and in excellent condition.
|

|
Greed $5
Greed is a proprietary version of the dice game commonly known
as "10,000".
Each turn a player will start by rolling all six dice. He or
she will then set aside some of these so long as those set aside
form one of the scoring combinations. (If unable to do so, the
turn is over and no points are scored.) The rest of the dice are
re-rolled with the same criteria. Once you've scored at least 500
points, you have the option of stopping and permanently keeping
these accumulated points. The first player to score 5000 points
wins!
|
 |
Guillotine $10
Guillotine is an irreverent and humourous card game that
takes place during the French Revolution. Players represent rival
guillotine operators vying for the best collection of noble heads
over three rounds.
Each round, twelve nobles are lined up for the guillotine. The
nobles are worth varying points, depending on their notoriety.
During your turn, you play action cards to change the order of the
line so you can collect the best nobles. The player with the most
points at the end of the game wins!
Will you be skillful enough to bribe the guards and collect
Marie Antoinette? Or will you lose points for beheading the Hero
of the People?
Contents are complete and in excellent condition. One of the decks of cards is still in its original shrinkwrap.
|
 |
HeroQuest Dice $10
These are custom-made replacement dice for HeroQuest.
The colour labels are inkjet printed, clear-coated and then
applied to solid, heavy dice. $10 for a set of six.
I currently have full sets in: yellow, light blue.
|
 |
High Score $5
High Score is best-described as a strategic, numeric version of
Bingo. Each turn, one player rolls the dice and then
everyone must write the rolled number on any blank space on their
5x5 board. Once filled, each row and column on your board is
scored using Poker-like rules. (i.e. points are awarded for
pairs, three-of-a-kind, full house, etc.) The player with the
greatest score after three rounds wins the game!
For 1-4 players.
Complete and in excellent condition.
|
 |
Last Night On Earth $30
Last Night on Earth: The Zombie Game is a fast-paced
game of brain-eating zombies, small town heroes, and horror movie
action. Players take on the role of either the heroes, working
together to make it through the night; or the zombies, unending
waves of undead spreading over the town like a plague. Featuring a
modular board, eight heroes to choose from, and several different
scenarios to play that drastically change the game.
Complete and in excellent condition. Includes a CD of atmospheric music which is still in its original shrinkwrap.
|
 |
Lord of the Rings: The Duel $10
Lord of the Rings: The Duel is a two-player card game
depicting the battle between Gandalf and the Balrog in the mines
of Moria.
Complete and in very good condition.
|
 |
Mall of Horror $35
In Mall of Horror, each player takes control of three
characters: a blonde, a bad boy, and a brute, trapped in a mall
invaded by hundreds of hungry zombies. There is only one way to
survive: find temporary safety in areas where the zombies aren't
yet, and forget about values such as solidarity and humanity.
Better them than you!
Who will be thrown at the zombies for the survival of the rest of the gang? Who will take over the security H.Q.? Who will look for some first aid material? No room for the weak, you will
negotiate, lie, ally, betray -- you will try to survive!
Complete and in excellent condition.
|
 |
Marco Polo Expedition $20
Marco Polo Expedition is a card-drafting game with an
unusual movement mechanism. Players travel from the ancient city
of Hormus to the Mongol capital of Daidu and each step of the
journey requires spending a specific set of cards (e.g., three of
a kind, four distinct colours, etc.). The trick is that you
skip over spaces ahead of you that are occupied by the other
players. Managing this is crucial to victory -- if you fall behind
the caravan, you'll be left hopelessly behind!
Complete and in excellent condition.

Midnight Party $10
Hugo! Hugo! Light, fun game of musical chairs from
Ravensburger. Players move their pieces around a mansion awaiting
the arrival of Hugo the ghost. Then, it's a mad dash to hide in
one of the rooms before he overtakes you and sends you to the
cellar!
Components are complete and in very good condition. The box has
much wear on the edges and corners but is in good shape
overall.
|

|
Mole in the Hole $10
Mole in the Hole is a fun, light game for 2-4 players.
Each player starts with a handful of small plastic moles that they
move around the board by playing tokens numbered 1-4 (indicating
the number of spaces that mole moves). The object is to place as
many of your moles in the holes on the board. Once all the holes
are filled, that layer of the board is removed and you do it all
over again on the deeper, smaller level. This continues until one
player reaches the final layer and claims "the golden shovel" and
the victory.
The rules are not original, otherwise complete and in very good
condition. The box has minor wear on the corners and edges.

de l'Orc Pour les Braves $15
de l'Orc Pour les Braves is from designers Alan Moon and
Bruno Faidutti. It involves fighting amongst brigands, orcs,
skeletons, and zombies. While the fighting phase is calm and
considered, the recruitment phase is done in real-time and this
hectic, frantic pace gives the game its flavour.
Please note that this game is in French only. Since it was
never released in English, the designer has published a
translation here:
http://www.faidutti.com/index.php?Module=mesjeux&id=337&fichier=198
Complete and in excellent condition. Counters are unpunched and
the cards are still in shrink-wrap. Signed by Bruno Faidutti.
|
 |
Phantom Rallye $12
Phantom Rallye is a simple game for 2-4 players. The
board features a number of pegs and starts with four gears
placed upon it (three are ghosts and the other is a crank). On
your turn, you'll place one or more additional gears (determined
by the roll of a die). The goal is to have all three ghosts rotate
when you turn the crank. Great game for younger children.
Complete and in excellent condition.
|
 |
Pick Picknic $10
Pick Picknic is a simple game about collecting the most
chicken feed. Each turn, players simultaneously select which of
six chicken coops they'll visit. If you're the lone chicken to
choose a coop, you get all the feed you can eat but if others are
with you, you can either agree to split the haul or fight it out.
Either way, you must be careful as players can also choose to send
a fox which will eat you instead! Quick-playing game with
wonderful production and artwork.
Complete and in excellent condition.
|
 |
Quarto $10
Clever two-player strategy game. Quarto consists of 16
pieces which are either tall/short, round/square, light/dark and
hollow/solid. Every turn you place one on the 4x4 board, the
winner being the player who completes a row of any attribute.
(e.g. four tall pieces, four round pieces, etc.) If that's all
there was to the game, Quarto would be quite boring.
However, the unique trick is that you don't choose which piece to
place, your opponent does. In order to win, you'll need to be
clever enough so that you can win no matter what piece you are
given.
Complete and in excellent condition. The box is in fair condition.
|
 |
Ramses II $5
Ramses II has a board that is a 6x8 grid with 47 plastic
pyramids on it. Beneath each pyramid is token, 12 of which show a
treasure of some sort. Each turn a player will attempt to reveal a
specific treasure by sliding the pyramids from space to space.
Reveal the wrong treasure and your turn is over.
Complete and in good condition.
|
 |
Risk: Balance of Power $25
Risk: Balance of Power is a two-player version of the
popular game. Players struggle over a map of Europe featuring
cities, capitals and neutral armies.
Still in its original shrink-wrap.
|
 |
Rogue Trooper $15
In this Games Workshop game, you're a Rogue Trooper, a Genetic
Infantryman - one of the last survivors of the infamous Quartz
Zone Massacre. Now, you and your friends search the face of
Nu-Earth, a battle ravaged Hell-world, for the Traitor who
destroyed the GI's. Ahead of you are hostile Nort forces and many
other dangers, but also companions, equipment and much-needed
information on the identity and whereabouts of the Traitor. But
hurry, as once he is unmasked, there will be a deadly chase
through Nu-Earth and Milli-Com until he is killed.
Contents are complete and in very good condition. The box is
solid but has much wear on the edges and corners and is in fair
condition overall.
|
 |
Rosenkonig $10
Although nominally about the War of the Roses,
Rosenkonig is actually a rather abstract game played on a
9x9 board. Throughout the game, you'll place coloured stones on
the board and the object is to create large connected groups of
your own stones. Stones are placed by moving a communal token (the
king), so you must consider not only where you place stones, but
what moves this leaves your opponent. Additionally, your moves are
restricted by the cards in your hand, so you must weigh the
benefit of drawing replacements against making a move while you
have the chance.
Complete and in excellent condition. This is a German game, but
an English translation of the rules is included and the components
themselves are language-free.
|
 |
Serenissima $35
In the 14th century, the Atlantic was an ocean without end and
America was yet to be discovered. The Mediterranean was a sea of
great prosperity—the only route between East and West. The
greatest fleets of the era battled over the most lucrative trade
routes. Venetians, Genoese, Spanish and Turks fought to seize
strategic ports on the trade routes of spices, precious gems and
gold. Serenissima recreates this era—the golden age, when
the Mediterranean was at the centre of world trade.
In the course of a game players must build galleys, hire crew
and buy commodities. Their galleys then sail to other ports to
sell their cargo to earn money. The value of goods can be
influenced by players having monopolies in certain commodities.
Players can also take control of ports thereby earning extra
income from other players using that port. The winner must posses
the most money together with the most prosperous trading routes. A
balance needs to be struck between trading commodities and taking
control of ports—between a fleet of merchant galleys and a fleet
of warships. But conflict is costly. A strategy based on attack
alone is unlikely to succeed.
A single 100 Ducat coin is missing, otherwise complete and in
excellent condition. The adhesive flags have been applied but, as
with all copies of this game, many are somewhat loose on their
flagpoles. This version has the more stable, flat-bottom
ships.
|
 |
Settlers of Catan Card Game $12
Excellent two-player version of the popular Settlers of Catan board game.
Contents are complete and in very condition. The box has some wear on the edges and corners.

 |
Shadows Over Camelot $40
Shadows over Camelot is a unique collaborative game
featuring a malevolent twist! As the incarnation of the Knights of
the Round Table, you join forces against the game itself in an
attempt to protect Camelot.
Your victory hinges on the successful completion of legendary
Quests, such as the search for Excalibur, the Holy Grail, or
Lancelot's Armor; the tournament against the Black Knight; and
numerous wars against the Saxons and Picts.
But beware... all is not as it seems among these noble Knights.
One of your number might yet turn out to be a traitor-in-waiting,
biding his time while sowing havoc and destruction from the
Shadows!
Complete and in excellent condition. Includes the Sir Bedevere expansion figure and a professionally printed coat of arms. The loyalty cards are sleeved.
|
 |
Shakespeare: The Bard Game $10
Shakespeare: The Bard Game puts players in the role of theatre
company managers who must produce plays in England during the 1600s. You'll
need to acquire scripts, actors, props and patrons. Paying for
this will require either a knowledge of Shakespearian trivia or
the ability to eloquently recite a speech!
Complete and in excellent condition.
|
 |
Sherlock $5
Sherlock is a simple memory game for 2-5 players and is
very good with young children (their memory tends to be better
than adults so there's no need to handicap yourself when playing).
Eight cards are arranged, face-down, in a circle. When Sherlock
the dog stops in front of one, you must state the picture shown on
that card. If you're correct, you leave that card face-up and
move Sherlock to a new card. This repeats until you guess
incorrectly or Sherlock stops in front of a face-up card (which
you then collect, ending your turn). The first player to collect
six cards wins!
Complete and in very good condition. This version of the game
uses a card to represent Sherlock the dog. Since he's constantly
being moved, I've included a large wooden pawn as a replacement
which is much easier to handle.
|
 |
Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective $15
Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective is similar in
nature to "Choose Your Adventure" games but is much more
open-ended and quite difficult. The authors were obviously true
Holmes aficionados as there are many hidden little secrets obvious
to readers of Doyle's stories. Suitable for both solitaire and
group play.
Complete and in good condition. The clue book has some notes written on the introductory pages and several of the booklets have minor staining.
|
 |
Silverton $30
Silverton — The Game of Colorado Railroading. Players
dispatch prospectors to stake claims and surveyors to build track
once they do. With any luck, the find will be a rich one and
you'll watch as the profits roll in. Don't get too cocky however
because every mine will eventually be depleted. If you've
re-invested wisely and built an efficient rail network, a
profitable passenger service will also be possible. For 1-6
players with several solitaire scenarios.
This is the original, first edition from Two Wolf Games. The
rules have minor foxing on the cover. There are three missing
counters (replacements are included), otherwise the components are
complete and in very good condition. The box has a major dent on
the right side and a minor dent on the bottom, but is otherwise in
good condition.
|
 |
Steel Driver $30
In Steel Driver, players are investors bidding for
control of railway companies. Gain control and you direct that
companies' actions. Should your focus be on short-term gain, or
long-term growth (with the risk that you may later lose control of
the company)?
Complete and in excellent condition. This is the Treefrog version (#751/1500 and signed by the designer).
|

That's Life $15
That's Life is a simple "roll-and-move" game from Kramer
& Kiesling (the design team responsible for Spiel des Jahres
winning games Tikal and Torres).
When I first read the rules, I was under-whelmed: roll the die
and move one of your three pawns (or one of the eight neutral
pawns). If your pawn vacates a now-empty tile, you collect it
(some tiles are good, others are bad). However, from this simple
ruleset emerges a nasty game of "take that!" where great fun can
be had setting up your opponents for disaster. It's all very
light-hearted and quite common to want to play "just one more
time". There are several variants included in the rules and others
are available online.
Components are complete and in excellent condition. Box is in
very good condition but with wear on the corners.
